My son will be 7 years old tomorrow and talks about video games without coming up for air. My daughter loves me but not authority. In summary, my kids are dope.

The kids and I celebrated Memorial Day by playing Super Smash Bros on Nintendo Wii U. We made really great progress.

Today, I remembered to add bobby pins to my grocery list. I get the feeling I won’t be getting any nominations for Most Organized Parent Award. I feel very neutral about that. As I remind my children as often as they mention “my mom does…”, “my mom says…”, I am me.

I worry about my daughter. She’s so angry. She could be acting out for any combination of reasons.

My son enjoys spontaneously telling me about video games. He has some favorites on his Fire tablet and Nintendo DS. My daughter is super rough, super fragile, and super headstrong. I want to give them both constructive outlets.

On my Sunday night phone call with the kids, my 4 year old daughter said something that cut me.

Am I a good father? We’ll find out eventually. There are exactly two people in existence qualified to give me a score, and they’re both still working on basic sentence structure. Time will tell if I’m a good dad. Until the report is available, I’m going to follow my instincts.
