Opinions seem to be the strongest they’ve ever been.
– Michael P. Wright, Turbulent Campaigner
My name is Michael P. Wright, and this is how I do social media
Ages ago in the year 2018, I bought the *.com domain name with my first name, middle initial, and last name. I didn’t want anyone else to have it. I still can’t believe it was available.

The Website
Weeks later, I made the site a place to publicly share my humor, ideas, and experiences. One motivation was that if I owned the website, I could control all elements of my internet content – from the media format to visibility and everything in between.
Also, I could use michaelpwright.com to publish a chronicle of my life – something my kids could flip through.
Daily Journal
I believe if I only write when I feel like writing, I may never finish a book.
My theory is that when I force myself to write every day – without distinction of a topic, word count, style, etc – I will develop (maybe even master) the habit of writing detached from having the desire to write. My daily journal is the experiment.
I like this and this and this right now
What am I interested in right now that’s probably a reason I was running late for that thing?
Mastering APIs
I want to understand and master Application Programming Interfaces (API’s). I figured the best way to learn is to build an API. More to come on that project.
Video Content
I’m a little bit more than obsessed with shooting and editing videos. I’m publishing all categories of long and short form content to see what sticks with audiences online. Most videos you’ll find on my YouTube and FanBase accounts. Others I’m making for a private experiment – more on that later.
InMotion V11 EUC
In Spring 2022, I bought an InMotion V11 electric unicycle. I didn’t ride it for 2 months, then I couldn’t stop riding it. It’s likely I’m the EUC rider you’ve seen in Huntsville/Madison Alabama; I look like a large, brown Gizmoduck.
Born and Raised
Short version: Born in the south, raised in the north, then raised further in the south – USA.
That means it’s weird to be called “African American”. Bro, I was literally born here, and so were the last 10 generations of both sides of my family. What’s up with the African-thing, and why was that ever OK, weirdos?
Military and Retirement
For now, here are the Cliff Notes®:
- 1998-2018 U.S. Air Force Network and Server Administrator (in Air Force language, 3D0X2 – Cyber Systems Operations); 6 duty stations (2 overseas); 5 deployments
- 2018-present: Military Retired; self-employed Frontend Web Developer
Fatherhood
Therapy
For someone like me, a perfectionist, I carried a lot of unhealthy thoughts about myself following the end of a marriage. For 2-3 years, I tried to get out of my own head and self-heal with books, food, and expensive distractions.
I got tired of making zero progress, so now I pay a professional to help. I’m sure I can’t explain how valuable it’s been for me to get objective, unbiased, and solution-oriented counseling on a regular schedule.
I didn’t want to ask for help, but I have two people who rely on me to learn how to adult.
Books and Unlocking Creative Potential
As of March 2024, I’m writing a book.
The good news: I’m writing book I can’t wait to read. 🙌🏾🙌🏾
