It’s kind of awesome. Friday on the drive to Huntsville with the kids, my daughter Maddalyn, asked me to take her training wheels off her bike. I did, and she rides her bike like she’s always known how.
Saturday, we hung out outside after breakfast, and sure enough she started riding her bike with the training wheels off. There wasn’t any practicing. No stopping and starting. She got on the bike, and started peddling it like she has always known how to ride it. It blew my mind. My mind is still blown.
I asked her if she had been practicing in Mississippi with her Mississippi bike. She told me her Mississippi bike is gone, and she doesn’t have a bike anymore. It’s all an extremely impressive milestone. She is officially a bike rider. Sunday we spent about 40 minutes outside on the trails on base — the kids on their bikes and me on the electric unicycle.
My bike has a busted inner tube. I wrote that just in case you were wondering.
