Too Damn Much

Sure “too much” isn’t a quantifiable amount of activity. Today, however, I definitely did too much. It’s all working out at the end, but wow.

I really should’ve stretched out my tasks better. I brought the kids to my mom and dad’s this morning where they spent the day take zero breaks and loving every drop of energy from my sweet parents. I know now that I should’ve picked a better day for them to all to hangout. But it did all work out, and they all really love each other.

Last night, I got one of the vehicles back in a condition that forced me to report a cleaning violation and a smoking violation. Unrelated to the vehicle’s condition, I had to get an oil change and tire rotation before it went out for its next trip the following evening.

That incident has inspired me to modify my available pickup and return hours. I’m going to match the business hours of Enterprise Rent-A-Car. They’re the biggest rental car business in the game — in the U.S. at least. It makes sense.

In fact, I’m going to one up Enterprise Rent-A-Car by adding an extra 30 minutes to my business hours. My competitor goes from 7:30 AM to 6 PM. My hours for those same days will be from 7 AM to 6 PM BOOM! Take that, major corporation!

I took the kids to their grandparents this morning where they’ve been hanging out all day. In hindsight, I should have taken a different day to take the kids down – to be more specific, I should’ve picked a day where I didn’t have too Turo Trips starting within two hours of each other. And further further hindsight, I should have had the vehicle that was waiting in the parking lot already to go before the day of.

It occurred to me this afternoon while I was walking from Walmart Neighborhood Market to Redstone Arsenal’s Gate #8 to get my Clarity that I need a method of transportation useful for short trips – 5 miles or less – that doesn’t use only human leg power. My choices are an electric bike or an electric unicycle. I’m leaning more towards the electric unicycle because it’s a lot smaller. Also, the unicycles I’ve priced are a lot cheaper than electric bikes. But really the winning factor is size i.e. it fits easily inside of an average car trunk. My transportation has gotta be portable.

I want the electric transportation not because I want to skip workouts but because I want to save time moving between places where I have to deliver the cars. I feel like today won’t be the last time I have both vehicles going out the same day. Another argument in favor of getting a portable electric mode of transportation is that I’ll probably have to switch to delivery only when I move on base — or just due remote check-ins and returns. That works for a bunch of Turo pros, I hear.
