The soundtrack for the upcoming masterpiece Dune (2021) has been released. Hans Zimmer is a genius, and this 22 track will be playing me to sleep tonight. I’ll probably listen to it during class time too.
We’re one month away from the movie’s theater and HBO Max release: 22 October 2021 here in the U.S. I’m so ready to see these characters. The cast looks really perfectly-matched. I’ve only seen Timothée Chalamet in The King, and I think he’ll do fine as Paul Atreides. The kid has a serious look, and he’s frail-y built. In short, Chalamet looks like Paul right out the pages of the book – that book is Dune by Frank Herbert.
Other characters I’m looking forward too are Lady Jessica, Duncan Idaho, Chani, and Stilgar. The actors casted for them are so damn spot on – based on what I’ve seen from trailers and whatnot.
A sequel is likely and
Denis Villeneuve onboard for writing and directing
It’s nice to see that a sequel is in pre-prediction, according to IMDB.com. I was worried the movie’s dual release on HBO Max and theaters might ruin the chances of sequels. By the way, there are 5 books written by Frank Herbert, the original author. Also, some handful of books F. Herbert’s brother published after F. Herbert’s are also available source material. There’s plenty.
Dune 2021 is directed by Denis Villeneuve who also wrote the screenplay with two writers. I’ve seen a few films by Villeneuve like Sicario, Arrival, and Blade Runner 2049. Visually, his films feel like Ridley Scott, large, watch-me-IMAX sized movies, and I love it.
Dune is exactly the book-to-film movie that needs a large frame. The books aren’t dialogue driven. A director who wants to make gigantic, eerie, emotion-triggering scenes has to make this movie — or movies.
