Today marks 23 years exactly since my first day of U.S. Air Force Basic Training. That math sounds off, but it’s correct. That also means on 1 September, I’ll have been retired for 3 years.

I still have a lot of friendships from my military time. In fact, I’m in touch with two people I went to Basic Training with. That’s something that’s pretty damn dope. If I have 600 Facebook friends, it’s likely that 400 of them I met in the military.

It seriously doesn’t feel like I was there for 20 full years. I was. I’m just saying it really, really doesn’t feel like it.

NSS is how Developer school should be

It’s Thursday and Day 9 for Front-end Developer (UX/UI Design) training at the Nashville Software School (NSS). It’s getting fun fast. The pace isn’t slow enough to get bored, and the curriculum is hard enough to keep me engaged.

A former student who got hired as a UX/UI Designer gave the class a really detailed demonstration of Figma (https://www.figma.com). Think of a free version of Adobe XD but a lot easier to learn because it has fewer basic features. Oh, no idea what Adobe XD is? It’s an application used for wireframing and graphic design.

Still no clue? OK, Figmas is used for drawing fancy shapes. BOOM

I’m definitely loving it here at NSS. Their staff has definitely built the curriculum with the students in mind.
