It’s official: Monday, I start a 6-month UX/UI Program at the Nashville Software School (NSS). I got accepted in June and tuition will be paid with the VA’s Veteran Readiness & Employment Program* (VR&E).
The program is called Front-End Web Designer/Developer Bootcamp. The first half is coding as a Web Developer with primarily JavaScript. The second half is the experience design part. I know how vague that description is, so I’ll just link to the program here: Front-End Web Designer/Developer Bootcamp at NSS.
I’m geeking out because I think I found a program with exactly what I want to learn for a career I want to work. In 2019, I learned the hard way that I do not want to code. I want to build things, yes. But, I discovered that the part I like about building things is deciding how they should look and function — the job of a User Experience/User Interface Developer.
Then in 2020, I found NSS, stalked them for a year or so, then applied. Here we go!
* The Veteran Readiness and Employment Program was previously called Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program. The name change happened in June 2020.
