My son started 3rd-grade Friday. My daughter started kindergarten. Maddalyn is more geeked out than Aiden is, but I’m at least 3x as geeked as Maddalyn.

She said her teacher’s name is Mrs. Mitchell and that the kids are called Mitchell’s Mountaineers. She has a backpack and is going to ride the bus with her brother.

I’m so happy. My daughter had a rough period with pre-school and had to spend a year at an in-home daycare that she didn’t like. The time is finally here where she gets to feel like a big girl and hang with kids at her level again.

It made my soul feel good and my smile big hearing her tell me about school.

Dominoes Falling Videos

My son suggested some dominoes falling videos I checkout on YouTube. He recommended one where 250,000 dominoes were stacked and toppled and one where the same was done with 1 million. He described both in detail. Most of the structures made with the dominoes were video game characters and themes like Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mine Craft, to name those I remember.

Aiden was less enthusiastic about school and pointed out to me, “We haven’t learned anything yet.” The cool thing about our call tonight was that Aiden answered the kid’s phone. 9 out of 10 calls, my daughter picks up with a pixie-like voice, “Hi, Dad” or “Hi, Pooping Poopy Head” or whatever she’s led to call me.

It put a smile on my face that Aiden wanted to talk first.
