I was watching someone walk a dog — a breed that would no doubt be extinct were it not domesticated — and I wondered ‘when in human history did we make it OK to tie ropes to these animals to be comfort for us’?
Similarly, I think about pet birds, and I’m baffled. Here’s a creature that can fly! Why in the world would you give it a ceiling?
I don’t know, man. Why did we convince ourselves that these animals we call pets need us for their survival? They don’t.
