I’m not over the change and we’ve that disappearance of Post brand Frosted Shredded Wheat.

There was a certain nostalgia that accompanied eating those weirdly textured cereal pieces. My first time tasting them – actually the only time in my childhood I recall – was at Granma and Granpa Tilley‘s house on Adams Street back when they lived in Hartford, CT.

Those times, I couldn’t finish a bowl without a healthy serving of sugar. It was the never-ending crunch I appreciate most about the broom-like breakfast food.

During adulthood, the best thing to happen to cereal for me was Post Frosted Shredded Wheat for 3 reasons:

  1. The cereal reminded me of visiting Granma and Granpa Tilley
  2. The cereal was already sweetened by an perfect amount of sugar baked into eat tiny morsel
  3. They bites were 1/2-spoon size which means there was now chopping of a shredded wheat biscuit requirement.

Post would eventually cut some of the sugar from the cereal affectively make it a shameful substitute. And ultimately Post stopped making the cereal altogether.

I’m sure it’s been more than 5 years. I’m just now ready to talk about it, but I’m not over it.
