There’s a connection to my symptoms of Major Depression and losing my ability to do a lot of physics activities I used to do regularly — one in particular is running.

I loved running, and it’s likely I’ll never be able to run again without back pain.

Before back problems

Before my back problems began, I enjoyed the privilege of participating in any physically challenging activity or exercise or sport that I wanted to. I enjoyed being kind of good at everything. I enjoyed being an above average runner.

For some reason and until today, I hadn’t made a connection between feeling depressed and being unable to be physically active. It had never added up.

Not only did I lose some thing I really enjoyed, but I lost a major part of my character. I identified with my athleticism.
