The lines are blurred between northern and southern speak

I said the word pocketbook in a Facebook post today, and in hilarious form, my friends didn’t hesitate to let me know that’s an old people’s word.

I didn’t know old people said pocketbook.

Also, I don’t know if I learned the word from learning to speak in Connecticut or living in Alabama.
