This is my weekend without the kids. Today, I’ve been thinking about writing SM3 blog content that will read to them like a blueprint for creating a digital marketing agency.
This perspective is completely new. I watched a gentleman about my age explain to Gary Vaynerchuk that his kids have been slow to success. The fan was expressing gratitude to Gary, because he was allowing himself to be discouraged from creating digital content. They guy said something that really hit me: “If I leave this world today, I know I will have greater peace. Because my sons have all of that [content] to hear dad tell them how to get there.”

A Purpose I Can Attach to
A lightbulb flashed and I thought “What better audience to write for?”. All of this online stuff, my going all in on a creative profession, the books I’m writing are driven by my obsession with impacting others. It’s all for stories and legacy.
I saw myself succumb to complacency with my blog, mikewriting.com. It started with my asking counter-productive questions like who cares, who’s listening, who’s going to benefit, etc. Of course, I was writing for purpose, but I wasn’t attached to a purpose I was in love with. Thus, I lost interest.
Content with My Kid’s Learning in Mind
Then today, it occurs to be that I can write, record, create content that shows my kids steps. Even if it all looks like nothing more than a chronicle of trial and errors, they will still learn from me.
Sure, I want to give them a high valuation agency, real estate, startup capital. But it’s not realistic for me to use those goals as motivators today for content creation today. Neither of those is tangible. What I can offer right now is a collection of knowledge and chronicle of my professional journey.
