I called the kids at 1846 on the dot.
My daughter answered and didn’t put down the phone.
She usually asks “What are you making?”, but tonight she wanted to talk about what I ate. I got the feeling she must’ve eaten something fun for dinner.
We might have been on the call for 67 seconds total. She said “Bye, Dad” — which is huge. In past calls, she either puts the phone down, abruptly or just disconnects.
I felt pretty good about our progress.
Almost There
My son still doesn’t talk. I’m working or getting him to say goodnight at a minimum. Just gotta lean on him a little more.
I’m fine with pressuring my kids to talk to me. Communication is a vital skill their dad is exceptionally capable of teaching.
