The Kids and Board Games

black jack of all trades by Michael P Wright default

Over the weekend, I found my games containers in storage.

I grabbed my playing cards collection and Dominos. In the mail right now, is a boardgame set with chess, checkers, and backgammon. Also, in that order is a coffee table-sized tic-tac-toe.

I wonder if destroying the kids in games is the right approach to feeding their hunger for strategic games.

There’s a balance, I’m sure. Maybe I won’t play them heavy until they have a good grasp of the game(s).

Also, I can get them to play as much as possible against their cousins and other kids their ages.

Yeah, that’s the way you do it with kiss, right? I think that’s how it worked for us.

Is That How it Went?

Although, I don’t remember my mom going easy on me in backgammon, but that’s me trying to remember 30 years ago.

I remember playing backgammon as one of my favorite memories with her.

Maybe that’s a better goal: make memories of the games instead of making my kids hate getting beat.

El oh El.
