I’ve been thinking throughout working on a complex website project that I might need to rebrand services.
With many, many hours over the 3 months of development, I’ve realized that I love the User Experience design. That’s where I get to apply my gifts of understanding and predicting human behavior.
I get to apply foresight and logic to a design. I get to interpret and simplify.
Unfortunate Timing
It’s unfortunate that I had to discover during a client’s project. It’s not the backend and programming of websites that holds my passion. It’s the presentation.
Without something so involved or without having to be the sole developer on the project, I might not have recognized this about myself — or the services I can offer.
So in that light, it’s a positive. It’s also a good thing I found out so soon in this professional journey.
20/20 Hindsight
Had I understood these things before undertaking my current project, I could have explained to my client that they are hiring me User Interface/User Experience Design AND Front-End Web Development.
Also, also had I this wisdom sooner, I would have signed-on to the project as one role or the other. My client would have needed to hire out to fill the other role.
