I have an Audible account to listen to audiobooks.
Below is a screen shot from the Overdrive mobile app for my account. I also have four library cards that give me access to digital books and audiobooks via Overdrive.

What I do
What I do when an audiobook is not available in one of the four libraries is buy it on Audible with one of my credits (with an Audible aubwcriypion, you earn 1 credit per month).
In the Overdrive libraries, I place a hold on the audiobook I want. This gives me a place in line to be able to check out the book. Overdrive even let’s you auto-checkout the title when it’s available.
If I’m still listening to the title in Audible before when it becomes available in Overdrive, I check it out in Overdrive, then return it on Audible for a refund of my credit.
Almost Free Audiobooks
It feels like free audiobooks but not quite. I still pay the monthly subscription to Audible, – who allows you to accumulate only 6 credits max — and I have to use them or lose the credits after hitting 6.
