Storytelling Run Dry

I get a lot of inspiration from people.

When I’m working on a draft, I like to go to my favorite breakfast spot and play music through one earbud. Mostly, my head is down in the laptop, but I’m watching and listening to what’s going on around me. On the surface, it’s just logical that someone who loves people-watching and observing to learn would do their best work around their subjects.

In the absence of my children, I’ve felt like something is missing from my desire to write (for my story blog mikewriting.com), and I can’t put my finger on it. There was something a little more exciting about telling stories. It may not be the children directly but maybe just my day to day mood.

I don’t know. I’m figuring it out though. I have some theories.
