Everyone’s life is hard. Everyone struggles.

I think that what makes a story about hard times a great story – one that’s inspiring and relatable – is the same element that makes a great article/blog post.

That thing, that X factor is presenting an answer to the problem. It’s the triumph over that obstacle. When we introduce a problem, we have to tell the readers about the win.

Tying in the victory completes the story in the same way a punchline works in a joke — brings the point full circle. It solves the riddle. It’s that final puzzle piece.

In writing, we have a unique opportunity to dress up the win with all kinds of literary witticisms. But the important thing is to always bring the story back around by revealing the way out.
